Preparation and Administration
Dilute in Normal Saline(NS) or 5% Dextrose in Water (D5W) and adminster slow IVP.
Remarks
Some preparations contain sulfites which may cause allergic reactions.
Neonates and infants are more susceptible to respiratory depression which may require reversal with Naloxone. Monitor patients oxygen saturation, heart rate, blood pressure, and respiratory rate. Combination with benzodiazepines may cause synergistic respiratory depression.
